Day 01 : Arrival in Bodhgaya
Your Lotus Path Buddhist tour starts when you arrive at Bodhgaya Airport. Our representative will meet you here and drive you to the hotel.

Bodhgaya, one of holy sites of Buddhism is the site of Buddha’s enlightenment. Lord Buddha meditated under the Bodhi tree here and attained enlightenment. Visit the Bodhi tree, Diamond Throne, Mahabodhi Temple–a World Heritage Site at Bodhgaya. There are new Buddhist temples built by the Buddhist countries and devotees of Buddha. After dinner, stay overnight.

Day 02 : Bodhgaya-Nalanda-Rajgir-Patna (110 kms)
Drive to Patna, the capital city of Bihar. Enroute visit the ruins of Nalanda University and attractions of Rajgir. Nalanda has some ruins; it is the place where the Buddhist University was established and it has been a centre of higher education from 5th to 12 century AD. The remnants of Nalanda are still preserved.

Rajgir is a pilgrimage site of Buddhism. There are several myths related to Rajgir and Buddha’s life. It is said that at the Jivakameavan garden Jivaka medicated Lord Buddha. Visit here the Buddhist temples, monasteries, pagoda and monuments. There is also Ajatshatru Fort and Stupa, Cyclopean Wall, Venu Vana residence of Lord Buddha, Shanti Stupa with four glimmering statues of Buddha, etc.

Continue your drive to Patna. On arrival take a hotel. Overnight stay.

Day 03 : Patna-Vaishali-Kushinagar (230 kms)
After having breakfast at the hotel, proceed towards Kushinagar. Enroute visit Vaishali.

Lord Buddha visited Vaishali for several times. The second Buddhist council was held here under King Kalasoka. This site was discovered by the British archeologist Alexander Cunningham. Explore the various remnants preserved in Vaishali Museum. After Vaishali visit, drive to Kushinagar.

Day 04 : Kushinagar-Lumbini (161 kms)
On the 4th day of India Buddhist Pilgrimage Tour, you would visit Kushinagar. It is the site where Lord Buddha died at the age of 80. In Buddhism it is known as the site of mahaparinirvana. Buddha delivered the major teachings of Buddhism at Kushinagar. The major attraction is the Mahaparinirvana temple; it houses a statue of dieing Buddha. Carlleyle in the year 1876 excavated the main Stupa. Other attractions to be explored are Ramabhar Stupa, Matha Kuar Shrine, Meditation Park, etc.

Post lunch drive to Lumbini. It is located in Nepal in close proximity to Indo Nepal border. On arrival take a hotel and stay overnight.

Day 05 : Lumbini-Sravasti (254 kms)
Lumbini village is the birthplace of Lord Buddha who was born in a royal family. He was born as Siddhartha Gautama and he spent his early years of life at Kapilvastu kingdom. The major attraction at Lumbini is the Maya Devi temple and the Pushkarni pond. Visit Lumbini and Kapilvastu.

Post lunch, drive to Sravasti, a site considered holy in Buddhism. It is located in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh. The legend says, Buddha enchanted his critics performing many miracles. On arrival take the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 06 : Sravasti-Varanasi
Your India Buddhist pilgrimage tour will take you to Varanasi, the Hindu holy city located on the bank of the River Ganga. This city is one of the oldest surviving cities in the world. On reaching Varanasi take the hotel. In the evening visit the River Ghats to have a glimpse of evening aarti. Overnight stay at Varanasi.

Day 07 : Varanasi-Sarnath
In the early morning embark on a boat ride on Ganga to have a spectacular view of the morning Ganga and the rituals performed by the devotees. All the River Ghats are busy in the morning with lots of devotees, sadhus and tourists.

After having breakfast, drive to Sarnath located on the outskirts of the city. It is at Sarnath that the Buddha’s Sangha was formed and he delivered his first sermon. There are Buddhist monasteries and museums at Sarnath. Buddhist devotees from outside India built temples here. King Ashoka constructed the great Ashoka pillar at Sarnath from where the national symbol of India has been taken.

Drive back to Varanasi. Visit the Hindu temples and the colorful bazaars. Varanasi is always a busy city with huge influx of devotees and tourists. You see here a cosmopolitan nature. After dinner, stay overnight.

Day 08 : Varanasi-Delhi-Departure
On the last day of Lotus Path Buddhist Pilgrimage tour, take the flight to Delhi and then board your flight back home.
